Introducing the Steering Tapered Bore Repair & Inspection kit to suit CAT 789 & 793 haul trucks.

Our team relentlessly searches for the significant marginal (and in some cases major) gains that can be found within the resources industry and work to turn great ideas into real products and solutions.

We've listened to your feedback surrounding ball stud change-outs on Caterpillar haul trucks and created the patented Geographe Ball Stud Removal Tool as a result.

You also told us that in many cases when a ball stud was changed out, you wanted a time-saving solution to reem the bores and allow the use of oversized ball studs as a further replacement option.

We heard your challenges and we've innovated.   Our solution is the Geographe Steering Tapered Bore Repair & Inspection Kit, abbreviated as the STRIK.

STRIK CASE STEP

The STRIK intends to reduce the dangers and provide labour efficiencies when inspecting and refurbishing the taper bores within the steering arrangement of CAT 789 & 793 haul trucks.

Kit contents include:

  • 1x Taper Inspection Gauge
  • 1x Bluing Paste (Used in conjunction with the Taper Inspection Gauge - visually represents the contact between the Gauge and the steering taper bore)
  • 1x Coarse Reamer (Removes the most amount of material per rotation - usually used as the first reamer)
  • 1x Medium Reamer (Removes a little less material than the coarse and more than the fine reamer - Can either be used as the first or second reamer depending on the initial condition of the taper bore)
  • 1x Fine Reamer (Final reamer to be used before using the Lapping Tool)
  • 1x Alignment Assembly (Helps align the reamers when operating and removing material)
  • 1x Lapping Tool (Final tool to be used to ensure the best possible taper bore condition for mating with the ball stud)
  • 1x Lapping Paste (Used in conjunction with the Lapping Tool - An abrasive medium used to remove the finest high spots on a surface)
  • 1x Instructional Documentation
  • 1x Pelican Case for storage and transportation

The kit will provide your site crew:

  1. A safe, efficient, and user-friendly process
  2. All tooling to ensure consistent high-quality surface finishes and accurate taper geometry
  3. Instructional documentation to ensure the best and safest practices are performed
  4. The ability to oversize the taper bore to accept oversized ball studs, compared to standard, while maintaining the correct taper requirements

The STRIK will be supplied in an easily accessible and maneuverable pelican case with each component presented in its own recess to ensure nothing is misplaced and can be easily identified.

Sound like tooling that could improve the productivity of your site?
